Thank you for your interest in Monarch Golden Retrievers. My life with dogs began as a very young child when at 4 years old I attended my first dog show, a moment which changed my life forever. I got my first dog, a Welsh Terrier when I was 6 years old and with the addition of my second dog at age 11 I was hooked for life. This dog was the first that I would train and title on my own at age 12. I have been grooming and training dogs professionally since 1996 and have worked with many different breeds but my true love is the Golden Retriever. The Golden is an active, intelligent, family oriented breed that thrives on love and affection and is not suited to life alone in a back yard dog house. Here at Monarch Golden Retrievers we are active in conformation shows, hunt tests, agility and rally obedience through both AKC and UKC. In my breeding program, I strive to produce sound, healthy, quality goldens that are true to breed type both in temperament and conformation. I feel strongly that a dog should be do what it was bred to do and my goal is to breed Golden Retrievers who can go hunting, have success in the show ring and go home and play with the family all in the same day… the all around, versatile golden. I have a very selective breeding program and only breed occasional litters, each with a specific goal in mind. I incorporate both imported and American born dogs in my line to strengthen health, sound temperament and to eliminate inbreeding. All dogs are tested for genetic hip, elbow, heart and eye diseases through OFA, CERF and PennHip.
